Wedding: November 2016
Louise & Alex got married at Ashton Lodge Country House back in November 2016. This is a venue I know VERY well as this is where I got married! This wedding was my first time back since my wedding! Louise got ready with her mum and bridesmaids in one of the hotel rooms at Ashton Lodge. I love the rooms there as they are full of natural light and big windows – perfect for capturing detail shots of the dress, flowers, shoes and accessories. Louise looked stunning in her dress and after an emotional ‘Dad’s first look’ it was time to head downstairs ready for the ceremony. After a lovely ceremony, guests had drinks and canapés in the bar and lounge area. It was freezing and I felt awful for bringing all the guests outside for a few group photos, but Ashton Lodge has lovely grounds and wonderful views, so for the sake of a good photo it had to be done! The sun was starting to go down very quickly (I love autumn winter weddings but the days are shorter and it gets dark early) So it was important to get couple portraits of Louise & Alex before it got too dark. They were great at coping with the cold and we got some gorgeous shots really quickly – I think this is down to them having a pre-wedding shoot before their day! This meant they knew what to expect and got into ‘poses’ quickly which really helped with limiting the amount of time we spent out in the cold! I took the rest of the group formal photos inside as it was just too cold outside. Luckily there is a lovely window in the ceremony room at Ashton Lodge which was perfect for family and bridal party group formals. The speeches before the meal were great! The best man, Alex’s brother, did a fantastic speech and put together a video with lots of old family photos and it also included a few video messages from some famous faces! After dinner, I took Louise & Alex outside for a few night portraits, before it was time to cut the cake and first dance. Louise then surprised her dad with a father daughter dance, which had most of the guests in tears! I left Louise & Alex to dance the night away with their guests. I had such a great time photographing their wedding and it was great to be back at Ashton Lodge.
