My style and approach
Unobtrusively documenting the story of your day as it happens.
Capturing real smiles, happy tears, big hugs, fun, laughter and love!
I'm based in Warwickshire and photograph weddings all over The Midlands and the UK. I've been photographing weddings since 2014 and have been lucky enough to document so many beautiful love stories. I describe my style as storytelling. I document the moments of your day as they happen, as unobtrusively as possible.
From the morning preparations...
to the dancefloor shenanigans!
"If you are looking for a down to earth photographer that will ensure you have every detail of your day captured beautifully, Amy is the one for you!'
Katie & Phil
"Throughout the day Amy snapped away catching all of the key moments without being intrusive."
Amy & Ed
I love being there to photograph the whole story of your day, so coverage typically begins around two hours before the ceremony, starting with the morning preparations. It is such an exciting part of the day, with so much going on and lots of emotions and anticipation. I can typically only photograph one of you during this time unless you are getting ready at the same venue - then, it may be possible for me to pop between the two of you. But if you would like full coverage of both of your preparations, there is the option to add a second photographer to your package. I photograph throughout the day, right through to your evening reception. And I don't rush off as soon as the first dance is done - I love getting some photographic evidence of the dancefloor fun for you.
"We're so awkward in front of the camera!"
So many couples tell me this, so I keep couple portraits relaxed and natural, giving a tiny bit of direction when needed. This doesn’t mean cheesy grins and awkward poses, just natural and romantic photos of you together, being yourselves, and capturing your love! The day can be such a whirlwind, and it's true when people say the day goes by so quickly, so this is also the perfect moment for you to have some time together away from guests and take it all in. If couple portraits really worry you, consider having a pre-wedding couple shoot with me before your wedding day. This is a great way of getting rid of any nerves you may have and gets you used to being in front of the camera.
I usually take you off for around 20 minutes of couple portraits during your drinks reception after the ceremony. Then if time allows, \I also love to do some more later in the day after the speeches and food. I find couples are often more relaxed by this point. We may even get some golden light as the sun sets, making photos dreamy and romantic. And if it rains? Don’t panic! Rain can actually add a fun element to the photos. We can get creative shots with my clear umbrellas, stay undercover in doorways and arches, inside your venue or wait until the rain stops. (There is normally a break in the rain, and I have not had a wedding where it has rained nonstop all day!) If it’s dark before I leave, I also love getting a few creative night portraits too - which are completely worth 10 minutes away from the dancefloor for, I promise!
Although I take a reportage approach, I am still happy to take some group photos for you. I know how important it is to have these photos with your VIPs! But I do recommend keeping your group photo list down to no more than about 10 different groups. If there's a really long list to get through, it takes time away from me getting those natural, candid shots of you and your guests enjoying the day.
I love photographing all the little details of your wedding day, too. You put so much time and effort into planning your day... finding the perfect decor, choosing the beautiful flowers and picking the tastiest cake - so no detail will be forgotten!

More than just a photographer...
One of the biggest compliments couples give me is that I was more than just a photographer; it was like having another friend there on the day! I don't want you to feel like I'm a stranger with cameras turning up on your wedding day, so I take the time to get to know you and all about your wedding plans. I also want you to have the best wedding experience, so when you book with me, you get access to my wedding planning guide full of helpful photography information and advice, plus tips and tricks that I've picked up over the years. On your wedding day, I'm on hand to help in any way I can. Sometimes couples say I was like an extra member of the wedding party! I've helped with countless fiddly dress buttons and pinned on lots of buttonholes! I always bring my little emergency kit, which has saved the day on more than one occasion. From plasters to painkillers, it has everything you or your guests might just need. My sewing kit is also handy - I've been known to stitch a button or two and once fixed a bridesmaid dress when the zip bust. My pen even came in handy during a ceremony where they'd lost the pen to sign the register!

Where are you based and how far will you travel?I am based in Rugby. I regularly photograph venues in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire Birmingham and West Midlands. However, I am happy to travel around the UK. A small travel fee will apply if the location is more than 70 miles from my home in Rugby. If the venue is more than a 2-hour drive from my home in Rugby, I may also require a night's accommodation. contact me to find out what travel costs may apply.
-
How long will you spend at our wedding? This will really depend on the timings for your day. With a full-day coverage package, I arrive about two hours before the ceremony to capture the preparations and stay right through to the first dance and a little bit of the evening party to get some photographic evidence of those epic funky dance moves!
-
How many photographs will you take?I do not limit the number of photographs I take during your day; I take as many as possible to capture every detail. I then edit through the photos and pick out the best ones to include in your final gallery.
-
Do you edit your photos? After the day I will go through the photos and pick the best ones that I know you’ll love and edit them. By edit I mean basic colour correction, cropping and tweaking the exposure. 'You can Photoshop that out, right? Can you get rid of my wrinkles etc.?' No, because I believe people look great as they are and so I don’t do any airbrushing or ‘photoshopping’ so to speak.
-
How long will we have to wait to see our wedding photos?I will show you some ‘sneak peeks' a few days after the wedding to keep you going until the final gallery is ready. I professionally process and edit the photographs and your images will be ready for viewing within 8 weeks of your wedding day. Images will be placed onto an online gallery for you to view first and I will then send your USB stick to you.
-
Do you have insurance?Yes, I am fully insured for both professional indemnity and public liability. I also have backup cameras and lenses that I bring with me on the wedding day, plus lots of memory cards and spare batteries and I take extra care to back up your wedding photographs. I am also a registered member of the Guild of Photographers.
-
What happens if you are ill on the day?Should I be ill and unable to attend your wedding day, I will do everything in my power to organise cover. I‘m part of a network of amazing local wedding photographers that I would reach out to should it be necessary.
-
Do you do engagement/pre-wedding shoots?Yes, I do. I love doing these shoots and there are lots of benefits of doing one - read more about them here.
-
Can we add a second photographer?Yes, I have the option of adding a second photographer to my packages. A second photographer works with me on the wedding day capturing even more moments of your day. This is perfect if you would like both of your morning preparations photographed and different angles of the day.
-
Do you photograph elopements and micro weddings?Yes, I do! I have a page with more information about them here.
-
Do you photograph LGBTQ+ weddings and couples?Absolutely! I’m proud to be an LGBTQ+ friendly wedding photographer. My goal is to provide a safe, inclusive space where you can feel comfortable, celebrated, and free to be your true selves.
-
Can we have less coverage or a half-day package?Yes, I do have a half-day package available and also offer the option of shorter bespoke coverage. Get in touch letting me know your plans and the amount of hours coverage required and I'll happily create a bespoke package for you.
-
How early should we enquire and book?It is never too early to enquire and book me for your day! I can only cover one wedding per day, so it's best to book and secure your date early to avoid disappointment. Popular dates go fast so it really is never too early to book! If you're getting married soon, don't panic that you've left it too late to book, I do sometimes have late availability!
-
Can we meet you before we book?Yes, of course, and I highly recommend it! I offer all couples that enquire a free video call consultation via Zoom (or phone call if you prefer). We can use this as a chance to meet each other, chat about all of your wedding plans and discuss your requirements. Plus I will show you some sample albums and talk you through my packages. It is so important that you get on with your wedding photographer! I want you to feel like an old friend has turned up on your wedding day, not just a stranger with a camera.
-
What is the booking process and how much is the booking fee?If you would like to book me for your day and have checked my availability. I will first send you my online booking form and then an online contract to sign. I request a £250 booking fee (the remaining balance is then due 14 days before the wedding). Once the contract is signed and the booking fee is paid the date is yours!
From checking my availability to receiving your photos... here is what to expect when you book me as your wedding photographer
