Documentary storytelling wedding photography
I describe my style mainly as documentary. I spend most of the day blending into the background, unobtrusively documenting moments as they happen. I believe that you should be busy enjoying your day, not taking lots of time out for posed photos! I'm all about capturing beautiful honest moments - true smiles, happy tears, fun, laughter and LOVE! Most importantly, I document the story of your day so that you get to relive it over and over again!
I really love being there to photograph the whole day, so coverage normally begins around 2 hours before the ceremony, starting with the morning preparations. It's such an exciting part of the day, with so much going on - lots of emotional moments, excitement and anticipation. I stay right through to the first dance and always stick around for some of the dancefloor shenanigans too - because I think everyone needs some photographic evidence of those funky dance moves and the dad dancing!
"Not only did Amy capture the essential parts of our day beautifully, but there were so many moments captured of our guests laughing, talking and
just enjoying the day"

So many couples tell me 'We hate having our photo taken!' which is why I keep couple portraits really relaxed and natural, giving a tiny bit of direction when needed. This doesn’t mean cheesy grins and awkward poses, just natural & romantic photos of you both together, being yourselves and capturing your love! This is also the perfect moment for you take some time together away from guests... taking in the fact you just got married! Having a pre-wedding shoot with me, before your wedding day, is a great way of getting rid of any nerves you may have and gets you used to being in front of the camera. You can find out more about pre-wedding shoots and the advantages of having one here.

Although I have a reportage approach, I am still happy to take some group shots - after all, these are important photos that will take pride of place on mantelpieces and in family photo albums for many years to come! I do advise keeping the group photo list down to around no more than about 10 different groups though. If I am completely honest, group photos can get a bit boring for you and your guests. Plus if there's a really long list to get through, it takes time away from me getting those natural candid shots of you and your guests mingling, drinking and having fun!
I think photographing all the little wedding day details is also super important. You put so much time and effort into planning your day... finding the perfect decor, choosing the beautiful flowers and picking the tastiest cake - no small detail will be forgotten!
"Amy blended into the background and got the most incredible photos that we didn't even know were being taken! Exactly what we wanted as we are both very camera shy! The day was such a whirlwind we are so grateful for all the memories she captured."

I'm based in Rugby, Warwickshire and I photograph weddings all over The Midlands and UK.
I want you to feel like an old friend has turned up on your wedding day, not just a stranger with a camera. So if you think I may be the photographer for you, it would be great to get together for a cuppa, meet each other and have a chat about your day! You can view my portfolio, see examples of my beautiful photo albums and also ask me any questions you may have. If a physical meeting isn’t possible then we can use Skype.
