Amy & David | Harry Potter Theme | Wethele Manor Wedding

Night portrait of bride and groom with fairy lights at Wethele Manor wedding

Wethele Manor wedding photographer

My first wedding of 2017 was pretty magical! It was Amy & David’s Harry Potter themed wedding at Wethele Manor. * CALLING ALL HARRY POTTER FANS * This wedding is amazing! :D I have known Amy for over 10 years, and so it was pretty exciting when she got in touch about wedding photography for their day. Even more exciting was the fact it was going to be a Harry Potter theme! Incredibly they planned their wedding in just 4 months!

Amy got ready with her mum and bridesmaids in the lodges at Wethele Manor. Amy’s Cousin Melissa is a make-up artist (Make-Up By Melissa) and did all the girl's make-up (And did a fabulous job too as they all looked stunning!) As most of you know I LOVE detail shots and this wedding didn’t disappoint - there were little Harry Potter touches everywhere. Amy’s dress looked gorgeous hung up in one of the lodges and her perfume bottle photographed really well with her jewellery! Amy is a florist so flowers were always going to be a big part of their day and her bouquets did not disappoint. Inspired Elegance Florist did a fabulous job! The bouquets were a mix of pastel vintage blooms and gorgeous delicate paper flowers by Fleurever Designs - paper flowers, made from Harry Potter books. Before Amy’s mum got her into her dress, they pointed out two photos that had been sewn inside - one of her grandparents and another of their family dog who they sadly lost. I thought this was a lovely touch! Once Amy was ready, I got the bridesmaids lined up ready to see Amy for the first time and the reactions were so cute! Then it was time for Amy’s dad to see her and I loved his reaction too! It was time to get married!

The guests were seated and all given a ‘Daily Prophet’ order of service – such a cool idea! The ceremony was lovely; Amy & David didn’t stop smiling! They had two readings including one from Harry Potter (one word - Always!) After the I do’s they were officially Mr & Mrs and we headed outside for group photos and confetti. Then I took Amy & David away for couple photos around the gorgeous grounds at Wethele Manor. It was my first visit to this venue and I loved it! Amy & David were worried about ‘posing’ for photos, but they totally rocked it and looked super cute together.

\ And then it was time for room set up detail shots and what a treat that was. With help from her mum, Amy’s Harry Potter vision came to life and they created their very own ‘great hall.’ The room was covered in fairy lights and there were tealight candles hanging from the wooden beams. Candelabras were placed in the middle of the table, surrounded by lots of green foliage which went all the way down the table. Amy’s mum had put together a collection of glass bottles and jars to create different potions. The place names were keys and Harry Potter’s invitation to Hogwarts letter. Each guest received a box of Bertie Botts jelly beans! The table plan looked great too, it was a ‘Marauder’s Map’ style. I loved the house flags attached to Amy & David’s seats too - a gift from one of the bridesmaids! So many little details were thought about and it looked incredible! There were lots of subtle hints and nods to Harry Potter without going too far. I’ve got a feeling a lot of the decorations will be making a permanent fixture in Amy & David’s home now! ;) The cake! How could I forget the cake? It was made by Claire's Creative Bakes and looked fantastic! With golden snitches, ‘Always’ cake topper and ‘mischief managed’ on it, it was a perfect Harry Potter wedding cake! After food and speeches, I took Amy & David outside for some night portraits. Wethele Manor has a metal gazebo structure covered in fairy lights and it looks so magical. Amy had told me how much she wanted a photo of these, so despite the cold, they posed for me under this and it looked incredible – worth getting cold for! To entertain their guests they booked Jester Styles Magic who was an amazing magician and had the guests wowed! After the cake was cut it was time for the first dance. I left Amy, David and their guests dancing the night away with music provided by Rob at Rugby Discos. I had such an amazing day photographing this wedding and I want to wish Amy & David a lifetime of happiness!
