Katie & Phil | The Granary at Fawsley Wedding

The Granary at Fawsley Wedding Photographer

Oh I've been wanting to blog about this gorgeous wedding for such a long time! Today I am so pleased to share Katie & Phil’s beautiful wedding at The Granary at Fawsley from back in August 2016. When I first met Katie & Phil at their home to discuss their day, Katie was wearing unicorn slippers... It was right then at that moment that I knew this wedding was going to be pretty awesome! And what a day it was with one bride beautiful bride, one smart groom and two stunning ceremonies. The morning started at Helidon Lakes Hotel, where Katie had stayed the night before and got ready with her best friends. I photographed Katie’s gorgeous dress, her amazing Irregular Choice shoes, and the colourful bridesmaid's dresses looked beautiful and perfectly matched the stunning flower bouquets by Albetine Floral! Katie’s Dad arrived and we all headed over to The Granary in Fawsley. It was my first visit to this venue and it was wonderful! Glenn and the team were lovely and so helpful; which really helped create the perfect day for the couple. Katie & Phil had two ceremonies. The first one was the legal ceremony and took place in a beautiful room with amazing views of the Northamptonshire countryside. It was a lovely ceremony; the couple didn’t stop smiling the whole way through, in fact, all day! It’s beautiful to see two people so in love and so happy and having the honour to document that love and happiness is such a good feeling. After they had signed the register they were legally married but there was still another ceremony to come, this one was to be outside on the lawn area at The Granary. The weather was a key factor in if the second ceremony would go ahead as planned. Well, the weather certainly tried to put plans on hold and there were a few short rain showers while guests had tea and scones on the terrace before the second ceremony. But the decision was made to have their outdoor ceremony as planned, regardless of the weather. The beautiful ceremony was conducted by a celebrant very special to Katie’s family. There was lots of laughter and some tears (I even welled up myself!) but most importantly there was lots of LOVE! At one point everyone looked a bit worried as a few drops of rain were felt, which then got a little more frequent, and I had to wipe away drops on my lens a few times, but Katie & Phil didn’t let it bother them one bit and had the outdoor ceremony they had always wanted. Instead of confetti, they had bubbles! The children had bubble guns and the rest of the guests had little pots of bubble mixture. This was my first ‘bubbles confetti’ experience, and it was sooo much fun! Katie & Phil didn’t stop laughing and smiling as they walked through the tunnel of guests and bubbles. Guests then had drinks in the sunshine on the terrace, while a fantastic acoustic musician played. The sun even came out at the perfect time, just as the group photos were taken. It was then time for me to go into the marquee and capture all the table settings and decorations. The room set-up looked incredible. I love taking detail shots anyway but with so many beautiful things (lots made by Katie) it was like an Aladdin’s cave for me! They had a photo guest book with a Polaroid camera, a cigar bar, a cheese table, an ice cream bicycle and the most amazing sweets table I have ever seen, including Krispy Kreme doughnuts! They had thought about so many little touches and it all came together perfectly. We made the most of the sunshine and took some couple photos and a few with Phil’s son - before guests were asked to make their way over to the marquee to take their seats for speeches and food. The speeches were again full of so many emotions (I welled up - yes again! It’s hard not to when speeches are full of such powerful emotion.) As they were eating heavy rain came down, but that didn’t matter now the rest of the day was inside. It was a shame, as I was hoping for some sunset photos with the couple after dinner, but luckily Katie & Phil didn’t mind going outside for photos even if it was a bit drizzly still. We used their Mr & Mrs giant balloons as a fun prop. Katie & Phil had a variety of weather on their day; we had already taken some shots in the gorgeous sunshine, but I wanted a way of documenting the rain too, so we headed out for more photos after their first dance to get some ‘night shots’. Just because it's dark, it doesn’t mean we can’t get creative, so I got Katie & Phil to hold an umbrella for a silhouette shot. I then left the new Mr & Mrs and their guests to enjoy the rest of the evening. I absolutely loved getting to know this wonderful couple and so pleased to finally share their The Granary at Fawsley wedding.
